The World Poker Tour's regional event is happening at Reno's Atlantis Resort this weekend. Currently, the Western Poker Challenge is in action, September 14 - 24, 2012 with the WPT three day event for $150,000 in guaranteed prize money starting Saturday at noon.
The WPT is one of the world's most successful televised events, and this year's Texas Hold'em tournament highlights Reno and the Atlantis Resort. Saturday's main event begins at noon as players sit down with their $20,000 in starting chips to fight their way through the no-limit tournament towards the final table.
Last year's inaugural event at the Atlantis was a $2,500 buy-in, just half the cost of previous events held at the Reno Hilton. World Poker Tour President Adam Pliska said at the time, "Atlantis runs one Reno's best poker rooms. Pros and amateurs alike tell us about the quality of play found there."
This year's main event is a $1,650 buy-in, which allows even more players to get in the action. Blinds start at $50/$100 and increase each hour, allowing players to get comfortable with the format, and the camera's that buzz around the room.
The Atlantis features 9 restaurants, 8 bars and lounges, 1500 slot machines, 1000 hotel rooms, and 40 table games. More information can be obtained at 800.723.6500.
