Watch in awe as pastel chalk paintings come to life at an inaugural Artown event, the Reno Chalk Art Festival presented by Atlantis Casino Resort Spa. Using pavement for canvas, juried artists—amateur and professional—will descend upon the Biggest Little City on July 9th and 10th to make their mark by transforming parking spaces into works of art at this new signature event. Invited professional chalk artists known as Madonnari will also create spectacular masterpieces.
Stroll through the West Lot of Atlantis for two fun-filled days enjoying whimsical chalk art, bites from local food trucks, live entertainment, artisan crafters and more. The competition runs from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. on July 9th and 10th. The top chalk artists will be recognized at 5 p.m. on July 10. Prizes will be awarded for Best of Show, Best reproduction of a Master’s Work, Best Use of Color, Best 3D and Artists’ Choice Award. A special hotel rate will be available for out-of-town artists.

You do not have to experience in chalk per se. If you have an eye for color and love to create this is going to be an epic inaugural event during Artown. We invite all creatives to apply. You will receive breakfast and lunch on Saturday and Sunday, we provide the pastel chalk.
Please provide a short statement expressing your interest and include a biography. Please include a hi-resolution photo of yourself as well. These materials will help the jury to evaluate your submission and may be included marketing of the event.

Michael Rieger is a professional artist, photographer and teacher. He has worked as a historical photographer for the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) for over 15 years. Michael works with many different mediums including clay, steel and chalk pastels. For the past 14 years, he has led the Colorado arts community and is currently the Art Director of the Denver Chalk Art Festival.
Randy Segura is a professional artist who has recently developed a strong interest for chalk art. After graduating with a Bachelor's degree in Commercial Art, Randy found a passion for painting and worked as a sign painter for over 30 years.
Kyle Banister is a multi-media artist with experience with many mediums ranging from pencil & ink drawings to paintings and pastels done on wood, metal, Plexiglas and concrete. Kyle's art is inspired by artists such as Leonardo daVinci and Michelangelo.
